Your e-bike is a powerful, reliable companion, but like any machine, it needs a little care to keep it running at its best. Here’s a quick guide to help you ride safely and extend your e-bike’s life.

DOs: What You Should Do

  1. Store it properly. Keep your e-bike indoors or in a dry, sheltered area. Avoid long exposure to rain, direct sunlight, or freezing temperatures.
  2. Clean it regularly—but gently. Wipe down your bike with a damp cloth. Avoid spraying water directly at electrical components or using pressure washers.
  3. Charge smart. Use the original charger and charge in a dry, cool place. Disconnect the charger once full. Partial charging is fine and often better for battery health than always going from 0 to 100%.
  4. Keep your chain and moving parts lubricated. Apply bike-specific lubricant to the chain and check for dirt or grime buildup.
  5. Check tires, brakes, and bolts. Before each ride, make sure tires are properly inflated, brakes are responsive, and bolts are tightened.
  6. Follow the weight limit. Always stick to the manufacturer’s load capacity. Overloading affects performance and safety.
  7. Service your e-bike regularly. We recommend a full service every 6–12 months, or more frequently if you ride daily.

DON’Ts: Avoid These Mistakes

  1. Don’t assume it’s waterproof. E-bikes are water-resistant, not waterproof. Light rain is okay, but avoid riding through floods, washing with high-pressure water, or storing it wet.
  2. Don’t store the battery in extreme temperatures. Hot cars or freezing garages can damage battery cells. Keep it indoors if not in use.
  3. Don’t open or tamper with the motor or battery. Leave technical repairs and internal components to professionals. DIY fixes can be dangerous and void warranties.
  4. Don’t ride with a loose battery. Always check that your battery is secure before riding.
  1. Don’t ignore warning signs. If the display shows errors or the bike makes unusual sounds, stop and have it checked.
  2. Don’t overcharge or leave plugged in overnight often. While occasional overcharging won’t ruin the battery, it’s best not to make it a habit.

Is My E-Bike Waterproof?

Short answer: No.

E-bikes are usually rated IPX4–IPX6, meaning they can handle splashes and rain, but they should not be submerged or sprayed directly with water. Think: drizzle, not downpour.

Extra Tip: Register and Secure Your Bike

If your bike has a serial number or tracking feature, register it. Use a sturdy lock when parking outside—even for short stops.
